cranks of Couac!
What is couac! ?
Couac! is a 2 players game that utilizes the concept of alternative control. This project was completed as part of a themed week. We were provided with arcade kits and tasked with imagining a fun and interactive way to play a game that differed from the classic controller. As a result, we created two cranks, each controlling one leg of a plastic duck attempting to undercover himself as a chick. When the player gets too close to the mother duck, she turns around, and both players must press the plush duck above their cranks simultaneously.

The Process
So, in order to integrate the crank into the game mechanics using the buttons, we devised a plan. We schematically designed a crank handle, which we subsequently modeled and 3D printed. Then, we affixed a tip capable of pressing the buttons situated within a cylinder. Rotating the crank in one direction propels the duck either left or right, depending on the controller, or backwards in the opposite direction.
